Joining The Cleftomaniacs
The Cleftomaniacs choir, based at the Alexandria Town Hall, is an all-female a cappella group known for its style and flair. Our repertoire includes pop, soul, folk and blues from the 60s, 70s and 80s.
Our members come from all over Sydney and all walks of life. You don't have to read music (though it helps) – but need to be able to sing in tune and willing to learn, practise and persevere.
We perform regularly for fun: at community events, for charitable causes and at times for income to help sustain the group financially.
We welcome new members. Check us out during one of our rehearsals if you're interested. We rehearse on Thursday nights from 7-9 pm. We follow school terms.

1. Ring the contact person listed here*, so that we know you are coming and can confirm that we're having a regular rehearsal that evening:

2. If you like what you see (and hear) at the rehearsal you attend, you can come and just listen, or sing with us for two weeks – no charge.
During this time you can start learning a new song as part of the group. Record it on your phone if you'd like. We provide a sound file that you can sing along with at home (and sheet music if wanted).
3. At the end of our usual rehearsal in week 3, there's a low key 'try out', using the song you have learned, to see if there is a good fit for both you and us. You won’t have to sing by yourself and you will be supported by your ‘part buddy’ and the music director.
You’ll receive feedback straight after that, and we'll be in touch with you again with a follow-up email.
